Jerome Callet

- a lifetime of perseverance … to mastery -

Ask anyone that has tried to play a trumpet, it’s a very challenging beast - perhaps the most challenging of all instruments. Hundreds of thousands have tried. But only a very few have mastered it. Over the past 100 years, it’s unlikely that anyone has rivalled Jerome’s passion to overcome its difficulties. And in the end, he surpassed most everyone with his incredible range, power, and endurance. By the time he judged himself accomplished enough to teach, he had double C’s that were the the envy of everyone that heard them - ear shattering double C’s for hours on end.* And, he could precisely play every Arbans exercise - up an octave and all day long.

Jerome, throughout his life, had two goals: conquer this brass beast, and teach others to do the same.

To reach his goals, after his many years of struggle and deep frustration, Jerome realized that the path forward required new thinking, a very different approach than taught by any of his contemporaries. For all of us that love this most majestic instrument, Jerome unearthed a clearly more efficient path forward . He named it Superchops.

*In trumpet lore, there’s a rumor that Jerry was poliltely asked, but firmly required to leave a brass festival at which he was exhibiting. The projection and volume of his Double C’s were making it impossible for anyone else in the hall to hear themselves speak. From many sources, I’m certain it’s true.

The overwhelming majority of trumpet players never reach a highly competent level. Jerome challenged himself to find out why.
