Jerome Callet

- from a lifetime of perseverance -

2 Goals

The trumpet is a very challenging beast, perhaps the most challenging instrument of all. Ask anyone that has tried one. Many thousands have tried to master it, but why have only a tiny few succeeded?

Over the past 100 years, it’s unlikely that anyone has rivalled Jerome’s passion to answer these questions and overcome its difficulties. In the end, he surpassed most everyone with his incredible range, power, and endurance. By the time he considered himself accomplished enough to teach, Jerry had double C’s that were the envy of most everyone that heard them - ear shattering double C’s for hours on end.* And, he could precisely play Arbans exercises all day long - up an octave.

After the age of 25, Jerome lived with just two goals: conquer this brass beast, and teach others to do the same. Due to his struggles, Jerome recognized that the path forward required new thinking, a very different approach than taught by his contemporaries. For all of us that love this most majestic instrument, Jerome unearthed a much more efficient path forward. And he named it Superchops.

*There’s a well documented story that Jerry was politely asked, and firmly required to leave a brass festival i Texas at which he was exhibiting. The projection and volume of his Double C’s were making it impossible for other presenters in the hall to hear themselves speak.

The overwhelming majority of trumpet players never reach a high level of competence. Jerome dedicated himself to find out why.
